(Amendment No. 3) Rules 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 27 of the Singapore Academy of Law Act 1988, the Senate of the Singapore Academy of Law makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Singapore Academy of Law (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2023 and are deemed to have come into operation on 19 December 2022.
Amendment of rule 10
2.  In the Singapore Academy of Law Rules (R 1), in rule 10 —
(a)replace paragraph (2) with —
(2)  The function of the Board is to administer a scheme (known as the Specialist Accreditation Scheme) for the accreditation of eligible members as specialists in a particular area of practice.”;
(b)in paragraph (3)(a) and (c)(ii), replace “practising advocates and solicitors” with “eligible members”;
(c)in paragraph (3), replace sub‑paragraphs (d) and (e) with —
(d)to accredit eligible members as specialists in an area of practice, and to revoke or suspend any existing accreditation of a specialist;
(e)to establish and publish guidelines, policies and procedures for —
(i)the administration of the Specialist Accreditation Scheme; and
(ii)the qualification, selection and accreditation of eligible members as specialists under the Specialist Accreditation Scheme;”; and
(d)after paragraph (3), insert —
(4)  In this rule, “eligible member” means a member who is an advocate and solicitor and whose privileges as a member of the Academy have not been withdrawn under rule 3(5).”.
