(Amendment No. 2) Rules 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 27 of the Singapore Academy of Law Act 1988, the Senate of the Singapore Academy of Law makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  These Rules are the Singapore Academy of Law (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2022 and, except for rule 5, come into operation on 1 January 2023.
(2)  Rule 5 is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.
Amendment of rule 13
2.  In rule 13 of the Singapore Academy of Law Rules (R 1) (called in these Rules the principal Rules), replace “$85.60” with “$86.40 (inclusive of goods and services tax)”.
Amendment of Third Schedule
3.  In the Third Schedule to the principal Rules, in paragraphs 1 and 2, replace “5.35%” with “5.4%”.
Amendment of Fourth Schedule
4.  In the Fourth Schedule to the principal Rules —
(a)in Part III, in the Part heading, replace “ONWARDS” with “TO 2022”;
(b)in Part III, replace “for the subscription year 2011 and for every subsequent subscription year shall be” with “for each subscription year from 2011 to 2022 is”;
(c)in Part III, in the table, in the second column, in the column heading, replace “onwards” with “to 2022”;
(d)in Part III, in the table, in the first column, in item 3, replace “Ordinary members who are foreign lawyers that are registered by the Attorney‑General under section 130I of the Legal Profession Act (Cap. 161) or granted the approval of the Attorney‑General under section 130L of that Act, or that are both” with “Foreign lawyers who are ordinary members under section 14(c) of the Act”; and
(e)after Part III, insert —

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS FROM 2023 ONWARDS
The annual subscription payable by a member belonging to a category of members specified in the first column for the subscription year 2023 and for every subsequent subscription year is as specified in the second column.

Miscellaneous amendments
5.—(1)  In rule 2 of the principal Rules —
(a)in the definition of “goods and services tax”, replace “(Cap. 117A)” with “1993”; and
(b)in the definition of “Notarial Certificate”, replace “(Cap. 208, R 1)” with “(R 1)”.
(2)  In rule 12(1)(a) of the principal Rules, replace “(Cap. 208)” with “1959”.
