(Amendment No. 2) Rules 2024

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 119(9) of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2024 and come into operation on 1 May 2024.

Amendment of Schedule

2. In the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules (R 33), in the Schedule —

(a)

in Part I, rename diagram 12B as diagram 12B(a);

(b)

in Part I, after diagram 12B(a), insert —

“DIAGRAM 12B(b)

SILVER ZONE, 40 KM/H

This sign is placed at the start of a demarcated silver zone. It indicates that elderly pedestrians are likely to be encountered in the section of road ahead and that vehicles must not travel at more than 40 km per hour in the silver zone.”;

(c)

in Part I, rename diagram 12C as diagram 12C(a);

(d)

in Part I, after diagram 12C(a), insert —

“DIAGRAM 12C(b)

SILVER ZONE, 30 KM/H

DIAGRAM 12D(a)

“FRIENDLY STREETS”

This sign is placed at the start of a zone demarcated as “Friendly Streets”. It indicates that vehicles must not travel at more than 40 km per hour in the demarcated zone.

DIAGRAM 12D(b)

“FRIENDLY STREETS”

This sign is placed at the start of a zone demarcated as “Friendly Streets”. It indicates that vehicles must not travel at more than 40 km per hour in the demarcated zone.”; and

(e)

in Part III, after diagram 165, insert —

“DIAGRAM 165A(a)

END OF “FRIENDLY STREETS”

This sign is placed at the end of a zone demarcated as “Friendly Streets”.

DIAGRAM 165A(b)

END OF “FRIENDLY STREETS”

This sign is placed at the end of a zone demarcated as “Friendly Streets”.”.
