Road Traffic Act
(Chapter 276)
Road Traffic (Prescribed Offences and Prescribed Notices) (Amendment) Rules 1998
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 132, 134 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Prescribed Offences and Prescribed Notices) (Amendment) Rules 1998 and shall come into operation on 6th February 1998.
Amendment of rule 3
2.  Rule 3 of the Road Traffic (Prescribed Offences and Prescribed Notices) Rules (R 28) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the words “Form A, B, C or D” and substituting the words “Form A, B, C, D, E or F”.
Amendment of First Schedule
3.  The First Schedule to the principal Rules is amended by inserting, immediately after item 17, the following items:
18.  Failing to make use of an overhead bridge in contravention of rule 3(1) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules (R 24).
19.  Failing to cross at a pedestrian crossing in contravention of rule 3(1) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules.
20.  Failing to make use of an underpass in contravention of rule 3(1) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules.
21.  Crossing a road in a direction which is not parallel to the flow of traffic in contravention of rule 3(3) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules.
22.  Failing to conform to a signalised traffic sign in contravention of rule 3(3) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules.
23.  Climbing over a railing or other structure in contravention of rule 3(4) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules.
24.  Crossing in a direction which interferes with the lawful movement of traffic at an intersection of roads in contravention of rule 8 of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules.
25.  Remaining upon a pedestrian crossing longer than is necessary in contravention of rule 12 of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules.
26.  Failing to yield the right of way to vehicles in contravention of rule 13(1) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules.
27.  Standing, sitting, squatting, loitering, walking or running on the road in such a manner or in such a position as to interfere with the lawful movement of traffic in contravention of rule 13(2) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules.”.
Amendment of Second Schedule
4.  The Second Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting Forms A and B and substituting the following Forms:
FORM A
FORM B
”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after Form D, the following Forms:
Form E
Form F
”.
