Road Traffic Act
(Chapter 276)
Road Traffic (Amendment) Rules 1999
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Amendment) Rules 1999 and shall come into operation on 1st March 1999.
Amendment of rule 34
2.  Rule 34 of the Road Traffic Rules (R 20) is amended by deleting paragraph (b) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(b)bear the PSB Regulatory Batch Inspection Label of the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board; and”.
New rule 36
3.  The Road Traffic Rules are amended by inserting, immediately after rule 35, the following rule:
“Restriction on carriage of child pillion passengers
36.  No person riding a motorcycle or scooter on a road shall carry any child under 10 years of age as a pillion passenger.”.
