Road Traffic
(Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2007

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2007 and shall come into operation on 19th March 2007.

Amendment of rule 25

2. Rule 25 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) is amended —

(a)

by deleting paragraph (5) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(5) Where the firm or company referred to in paragraph (4) has not sold the vehicle to another person at the expiration of the 3-month period referred to in that paragraph, the Registrar may —

(a)	extend the period of registration of the vehicle in the name of the firm or company for a further period of 3 months upon the payment of a fee of $30; and
(b)	at the expiration of the 3-month period referred to in sub-paragraph (a), extend the period of registration of the vehicle in the name of the firm or company for a further period of 3 months upon the payment of a fee of $60,

subject to such conditions as the Registrar may in his discretion impose.”; and

(b)

by deleting the words “paragraph (5)” in paragraph (6) and substituting the words “paragraph (5)(b)”.

Amendment of rule 26

3. Rule 26 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(2) Where the firm or company referred to in paragraph (1) has not transferred the registration of the vehicle to another person at the expiration of the 3-month period referred to in that paragraph, the Registrar may —

(a)	extend the period of registration of the vehicle in the name of the firm or company for a further period of 3 months upon the payment of a fee of $30; and
(b)	at the expiration of the 3-month period referred to in sub-paragraph (a), extend the period of registration of the vehicle in the name of the firm or company for a further period of 3 months upon the payment of a fee of $60,

subject to such conditions as the Registrar may in his discretion impose.”; and

(b)

by deleting the words “paragraph (2)” in paragraph (3) and substituting the words “paragraph (2)(b)”.
