(Halal Certificates) (Amendment)
Rules 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 88C of the Administration of Muslim Law Act 1966, the Majlis Ugama Islam, Singapura, with the approval of Mr Masagos Zulkifli, the Minister charged with the responsibility for Muslim affairs, makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Administration of Muslim Law (Halal Certificates) (Amendment) Rules 2023 and come into operation on 15 March 2023.
New rule 3B
2.  In the Administration of Muslim Law (Halal Certificates) Rules (R 8), after rule 3A, insert —
Fees for training courses and assessments
3B.—(1)  For the purposes of section 88A(3) of the Act, the Majlis may require such employee of any applicant or holder of a halal certificate as the Majlis may specify to undergo either or both of the following, which may be conducted by or under the supervision of the Majlis:
(a)any training course that the Majlis may specify;
(b)any assessment for competency that the Majlis may specify.
(2)  The appropriate fee for the training course or assessment specified in the Schedule is payable to the Majlis by the applicant or holder of the halal certificate.”.
Amendment of Schedule
3.  In the Administration of Muslim Law (Halal Certificates) Rules, in the Schedule —
(a)replace the Schedule reference with —
Rules 3, 3A and 3B”; and
(b)after item 16, insert —
 
“17.Halal competency assessment
$125 per assessment”.
