(Restriction of Speed on Roads)
(Amendment No. 2) Notification 2024

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 63(2) of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Transport makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1. This Notification is the Road Traffic (Restriction of Speed on Roads) (Amendment No. 2) Notification 2024 and comes into operation on 1 May 2024.

Amendment of paragraph 2

2. In the Road Traffic (Restriction of Speed on Roads) Notification (N 6), in paragraph 2 —

(a)

in sub-paragraphs (1), (2) and (3), replace “any road” with “any road or part of a road”;

(b)

in sub-paragraph (3)(a), replace “diagram 12C” with “diagram 12C(a) or 12C(b)”;

(c)

in sub-paragraph (3)(b), replace “diagram 12B” with “diagram 12B(a) or 12B(b)”; and

(d)

after sub-paragraph (3), insert —

“(3A) The speed of all motor vehicles travelling along any road or part of a road in a zone demarcated as “Friendly Streets” by —

(a)	the traffic sign set out in diagram 12D(a) or 12D(b) in Part I of the Schedule to the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules at the beginning of the zone; and
(b)	the traffic sign set out in diagram 165A(a) or 165A(b) in Part III of the Schedule to the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules at the end of the zone,

must not exceed the speed of 40 kilometres per hour.”.
