Misuse of Drugs
(Approved Institutions, Medical Observation
and Treatment and Rehabilitation)
(Amendment) Regulations 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 58 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  These Regulations are the Misuse of Drugs (Approved Institutions, Medical Observation and Treatment and Rehabilitation) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 and, except for regulation 3, come into operation on 1 June 2023.
(2)  Regulation 3 is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.
Amendment of regulation 16
2.  In the Misuse of Drugs (Approved Institutions, Medical Observation and Treatment and Rehabilitation) Regulations (Rg 3), in regulation 16, replace paragraph (1) with —
(1)  Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), regulation 15 applies to any person who has been discharged from a military detention barrack to which the person was committed —
(a)for drug treatment and rehabilitation; or
(b)for an offence involving the consumption of a controlled drug under section 26 or 34 of the Singapore Armed Forces Act 1972,
while being subject to military law, as it applies to a person who has been discharged from an approved institution.”.
Miscellaneous amendments
3.  In the Misuse of Drugs (Approved Institutions, Medical Observation and Treatment and Rehabilitation) Regulations —
(a)in the following provisions, replace “(Cap. 137)” with “1976”:
Regulation 8(6)
Regulation 9(f); and
(b)in regulation 16(3), replace “(Cap. 295)” with “1972”.
