Legal Profession (Disciplinary Tribunal)
(Amendment No. 3) Rules 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 82A(14) and 91(1) of the Legal Profession Act 1966, we, the Rules Committee, make the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Legal Profession (Disciplinary Tribunal) (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2022 and come into operation on 1 December 2022.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  In rule 2(1) of the Legal Profession (Disciplinary Tribunal) Rules (R 2) (called in these Rules the principal Rules) —
(a)in the definition of “complainant”, in paragraph (a)(ii), after “a Legal Service Officer”, insert “, a PD Officer”;
(b)in the definition of “complaint”, after “conduct of a Judicial Service Officer, a Legal Service Officer,”, insert “a PD Officer,”;
(c)in the definition of “complaint”, in paragraph (b), replace “a Legal Service Officer or non‑practising solicitor” with “a Legal Service Officer, a PD Officer or a non‑practising solicitor”;
(d)in the definition of “complaint”, in paragraph (b), after “the Judicial Service Officer, Legal Service Officer”, insert “, PD Officer”;
(e)after the definition of “party”, insert —
“ “PD Officer” has the meaning given by section 82(3);”; and
(f)in the definition of “respondent”, after “Legal Service Officer,”, insert “PD Officer,”.
Amendment of rule 5
3.  In rule 5 of the principal Rules —
(a)in the rule heading, after “Legal Service Officers”, insert “, PD Officers”;
(b)after “a Legal Service Officer”, insert “, a PD Officer”; and
(c)in paragraphs (a) and (b)(ii)(A) and (B), after “Legal Service Officer”, insert “, PD Officer”.
Amendment of Schedule
4.  In the Schedule to the principal Rules — 
(a)in the form heading of Forms 2, 3 and 4, after “LEGAL SERVICE OFFICER*”, insert “/PD OFFICER*”; and
(b)in paragraph 1 of Forms 2 and 3, after “/Legal Service Officer*”, insert “/PD Officer*”.
Miscellaneous amendment
5.  In the principal Rules, in the following provisions, after “Legal Service Officer” (wherever it appears), insert “, PD Officer”:
 
Rule 19(1)(b)(i) and (c)(i)
 
Rule 24(1).
