(Bicycles, Three-wheeled Pedal Cycles and
Recumbent Devices — Exemption)
Order 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Transport makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order is the Road Traffic (Bicycles, Three-wheeled Pedal Cycles and Recumbent Devices — Exemption) Order 2024 and comes into operation on 1 March 2024.
Definitions
2.  In this Order, “recumbent device” and “three‑wheeled pedal cycle” have the meanings given by rule 2 of the Road Traffic (Bicycles, Three‑wheeled Pedal Cycles, Trishaws and Recumbent Devices — Construction and Use) Rules 2024 (G.N. No. S 157/2024).
Exemption for bicycles
3.  Sections 10, 11, 15 and 29(2) of the Act do not apply in respect of a bicycle.
Exemption for certain three‑wheeled pedal cycles and recumbent devices
4.  Sections 5A, 10, 11, 15 and 29(1) of the Act do not apply in respect of —
(a)a three‑wheeled pedal cycle that is built to be propelled solely by human power; and
(b)a recumbent device that is built to be propelled solely by human power.
Amendment of Road Traffic (Exemptions) (Consolidation) Order
5.  In the Road Traffic (Exemptions) (Consolidation) Order (O 2), in the Schedule, delete the item relating to “Bicycles and tricycles”.
