Public Entertainments
(Exemptions) (Amendment)
Order 2023

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 23(1) of the Public Entertainments Act 1958, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) This Order is the Public Entertainments (Exemptions) (Amendment) Order 2023 and, except for paragraph 3, comes into operation on 21 August 2023.

(2) Paragraph 3(a) is deemed to have come into operation on 1 August 2017.

(3) Paragraph 3(f) is deemed to have come into operation on 1 April 2019.

(4) Paragraph 3(b), (c), (d), (e), (g), (h), (i), (j), (k), (l) and (m) is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

Amendment of paragraph 3

2. In the Public Entertainments (Exemptions) Order (O 1), in paragraph 3 —

(a)	in sub‑paragraph (9E)(a), after “Act”, insert “(except the transmission of recorded music)”; and
(b)	in sub‑paragraph (10)(na), after “computer games centre,”, insert “golf simulator centre,”.

Miscellaneous amendments

3. In the Public Entertainments (Exemptions) Order —

(a)	in paragraph 2, in the definition of “arts entertainment”, replace “Schedule” with “First Schedule”;
(b)	in paragraph 2, in the definition of “constituency”, replace “(Cap. 218)” with “1954”;
(c)	in paragraph 2, in the definition of “group representation constituency”, replace “section 2 of the Parliamentary Elections Act” with “section 2(1) of the Parliamentary Elections Act 1954”;
(d)	in paragraph 2, in the definition of “hotel”, replace “(Cap. 127)” with “1954”;
(e)	in paragraph 2, in the definition of “massage establishment”, replace “(Cap. 173)” with “2017”;
(f)	in paragraph 2, in the definition of “temporary fair”, replace “Director‑General of Public Health” with “Director‑General, Food Administration”;
(g)	in paragraph 2, in the definition of “temporary fair”, replace “(Cap. 95)” with “1987”;
(h)	in paragraph 3(9D)(b), replace “(Cap. 107)” with “1981”;
(i)	in paragraph 3(10)(a), replace “(Cap. 87)” with “1957”;
(j)	in paragraph 3(10)(b), after “Education Act”, insert “1957”;
(k)	in paragraph 3(10)(c), replace “(Cap. 311)” with “1966”;
(l)	in paragraph 3(10)(k), delete “(Act 5 of 2015)”; and
(m)	in paragraph 3(10)(l), replace “(Cap. 232, R 2)” with “(R 2)”.
