(Halal Certificates) (Amendment)
Rules 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 88C of the Administration of Muslim Law Act 1966, the Majlis Ugama Islam, Singapura, with the approval of Mr Masagos Zulkifli, who is charged with the responsibility for the portfolio of the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth as regards Muslim affairs, makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Administration of Muslim Law (Halal Certificates) (Amendment) Rules 2022 and come into operation on 17 August 2022.
New rule 3A
2.  After rule 3 of the Administration of Muslim Law (Halal Certificates) Rules (R 8), insert —
Fees for services performed by or under supervision of Majlis
3A.  For the purposes of section 88A(3A) of the Act, the appropriate fee specified in the Schedule is payable by an applicant for a halal certificate under section 88A(2) of the Act to the Majlis for the provision of either or both of the following services by or under the supervision of the Majlis:
(a)a service to verify that food provided or to be provided to Muslims complies with halal requirements or other requirements in relation to halal certification;
(b)a service for the cleansing of food utensils and crockery in accordance with Islamic rituals.”.
Amendment of Schedule
3.  In the Schedule to the Administration of Muslim Law (Halal Certificates) Rules, after item 10, insert —
 
“11.Service to verify that food provided or to be provided to Muslims complies with halal requirements or other requirements in relation to halal certification
 
$200 per hour
 
12.Service for the cleansing of food utensils and crockery in accordance with Islamic rituals
 
$250 per hour
 
13.Services mentioned in items 11 and 12, where both services are engaged in respect of a kitchen
 
$1,350 per kitchen
 
14.Services mentioned in item 13 in respect of more than one kitchen
 
$1,350 for the first kitchen and $250 for each additional kitchen
 
15.Service mentioned in item 11, 12, 13 or 14, where the request is received by the Majlis later than 14 working days before the event that requires halal certification
 
$250 in addition to the applicable fees in item 11, 12, 13 or 14, as the case may be
 
16.Service mentioned in item 11, 12, 13 or 14, where the request is for the service to be performed outside the following office hours:
(a)between 8.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday (except public holidays); but
(b)if any such day is the eve of the New Year, Lunar New Year, Hari Raya Puasa or Christmas, between 8.30 a.m. and 12 noon.
 
$750 in addition to the applicable fees in item 11, 12, 13 or 14, as the case may be”.
