National Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2000
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the National Registration Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the National Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2001.
Amendment of regulation 4
2.  Regulation 4 of the National Registration Regulations (Rg 2, 2000 Ed.) is amended by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2), the following paragraph:
(3)  The registration officer may, in his discretion, refuse to register a person by the Chinese name by which he seeks to be registered if such name comprises any Chinese character which cannot be found in any Chinese dictionary recognised by the Registrar.”.
