Misuse of Drugs
(Community Rehabilitation Centres)
(Amendment) Regulations 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 58 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Misuse of Drugs (Community Rehabilitation Centres) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 and come into operation on 1 June 2023.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  In the Misuse of Drugs (Community Rehabilitation Centres) Regulations 2014 (G.N. No. S 311/2014) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 2 —
(a)replace the definition of “Manager” with —
“ “Manager”, in relation to a centre, means a person appointed by the Commissioner of Prisons to be the manager of the centre under section 36A(2)(b) of the Act;”; and
(b)replace the definition of “Superintendent” with —
“ “Superintendent”, in relation to a centre, means a person appointed by the Commissioner of Prisons to be the superintendent of the centre under section 36A(2)(a) of the Act;”.
Amendment of regulation 8
3.  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 8(2)(d), before “any member of staff”, insert “the Superintendent or”.
Amendment of Schedule
4.  In the principal Regulations, in the Schedule, in Part I, in paragraph 1(l), replace “the Manager of the centre” with “the Superintendent or any member of staff of the centre”.
Miscellaneous amendments
5.—(1)  In the principal Regulations, in the following provisions, replace “Director of Prisons” with “Commissioner of Prisons”:
 Regulation 4(1) and (2)
 Regulation 11(1), (5) and (6)
 Regulation 17(1), (2) and (3)
 Regulation 19(2).
(2)  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 17, in the regulation heading, replace “Director of Prisons” with “Commissioner of Prisons”.
