Road Traffic
(Composition of Offences)
(Amendment) Rules 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 135(2) of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Transport makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Road Traffic (Composition of Offences) (Amendment) Rules 2023 and come into operation on 6 September 2023.
Amendment of rule 3
2.  In the Road Traffic (Composition of Offences) Rules (R 29), in rule 3 —
(a)replace paragraph (1) with —
(1)  When an offer of composition of any offence is made and accepted, payment must be made —
(a)by an electronic funds transfer system to a bank account designated by the Commissioner of Police or the Authority to collect the payment, who or which must account for the payment;
(b)to a person appointed by the Authority to collect the payment on the Authority’s behalf, who must account for and issue a receipt for the payment; or
(c)if the payer is unable to make payment according to sub‑paragraph (a) or (b) — by cash or cheque to a relevant authorised officer (within the meaning given by section 135(1B) of the Act) authorised by the Deputy Commissioner of Police or the Authority to collect the payment, who must account for and issue a receipt for the payment.”; and
(b)in paragraph (2), replace “fund” with “funds”.
