(Registration of Ships)
(Amendment) Regulations 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships) (Amendment) Regulations 2022 and come into operation on 5 May 2022.
Amendment of regulation 15
2.  Regulation 15 of the Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships) Regulations (Rg 7) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting paragraphs (3), (4) and (5) and substituting the following paragraphs:
(3)  On recording the change in the registered particulars, the Registrar must cancel the certificate of registry and issue a new certificate of registry that reflects the change in the registered particulars.
(4)  Where there is a change in any of the particulars that is required to be marked in accordance with section 10 of the Act, the Registrar must issue —
(a)a carving and marking note; and
(b)a new certificate of registry that reflects the change in the registered particulars.”.
Amendment of regulation 27
3.  Regulation 27 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (4) and substituting the following paragraph:
(4)  Upon the grant of the certificate of registry (bareboat charter ship) under paragraph (1), the Registrar must cancel any provisional certificate of registry (bareboat charter ship) that had been granted under regulation 26(1) in respect of the bareboat charter ship.”.
Amendment of regulation 28
4.  Regulation 28(3) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting sub‑paragraphs (b) and (c) and substituting the following sub‑paragraph:
(b)cancel the certificate of registry (bareboat charter ship) and grant a new certificate of registry (bareboat charter ship).”.
Amendment of regulation 31
5.  Regulation 31(4) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “60 days” and substituting the words “120 days”.
Amendment of regulation 33
6.  Regulation 33(4) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “60 days” and substituting the words “120 days”.
Amendment of regulation 34
7.  Regulation 34 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “60 days” and substituting the words “120 days”.
