Education Endowment and Savings Schemes
(Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards)
(Amendment) Regulations 2020
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 24 of the Education Endowment and Savings Schemes Act, the Minister for Education makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Education Endowment and Savings Schemes (Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 and come into operation on 1 January 2021.
Amendment of regulation 5
2.  Regulation 5 of the Education Endowment and Savings Schemes (Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards) Regulations (Rg 4) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting paragraph (b) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(b)the pupil has sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination in the previous year and stands among the one‑third of all pupils enrolled in independent schools who have obtained the highest aggregate scores in the Primary School Leaving Examination in that year;”.
Amendment of regulation 6
3.  Regulation 6 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (d) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(d)the pupil has passed the Edusave Scholarship for Independent Schools Test in that year.”.
Amendment of regulation 7
4.  Regulation 7 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (d) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(d)the pupil —
(i)has passed the Edusave Scholarship for Independent Schools Test in that year; or
(ii)has sat for the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination in the previous year and stands among the 5% of all pupils who have obtained the best aggregate scores for the relevant subjects in the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination in that year.”.
