(Demerit Points) (Amendment)
Rules 2023

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 15 and 33(1) of the Public Entertainments Act 1958, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Rules are the Public Entertainments (Demerit Points) (Amendment) Rules 2023 and, except for rule 3, are deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

(2) Rule 3 comes into operation on 21 August 2023.

Amendment of rule 2

2. In the Public Entertainments (Demerit Points) Rules 2017 (G.N. No. S 434/2017) (called in these Rules the principal Rules), in rule 2 —

(a)	in the definition of “demerit points offence”, replace “section 19(1)(c)” with “section 28(1)(c)”; and
(b)	in the definition of “licence”, in paragraph (a), delete “(Act 5 of 2015)”.

Deletion of rule 8

3. In the principal Rules, delete rule 8.

Amendment of Second Schedule

4. In the principal Rules, in the Second Schedule, in Part 1, in Division 2, in paragraph 1(n), replace “(Cap. 353)” with “1961”.

Miscellaneous amendments

5. In the principal Rules, in the following provisions, replace “section 14(3)” with “section 14(4)”:

Rule 3(4)

Rule 5(1) and (2).
