(Amendment) Rules 2020

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36Y of the Legal Profession Act, we, the Rules Committee, make the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Legal Profession (Representation in Singapore International Commercial Court) (Amendment) Rules 2020 and come into operation on 2 January 2021.

Miscellaneous amendments

2. The Legal Profession (Representation in Singapore International Commercial Court) Rules 2014 (G.N. No. S 851/2014) are amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “the Court of Appeal” wherever they appear in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “the Court of Appeal or the Appellate Division of the High Court”:

Rule 3(1) and (2)(d)(ii)

Paragraph 2 of the First Schedule (paragraph (b) of the definition of “Court”);

(b)

by deleting the words “or the Court of Appeal,” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “the Court of Appeal or the Appellate Division of the High Court”:

Rule 3(2)(e)

Rule 4(1)(e) and (3)(c)

Rule 5(2)(i)

Rule 7(2)(g)

Form 1 of Second Schedule, Part G

Form 3 of Second Schedule, Part F;

(c)

by deleting the words “or of the Court of Appeal,” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “the Court of Appeal or the Appellate Division of the High Court”:

Rule 4(2)(c) and (4)(b)

Rule 6(2)(g)

Rule 8(2)(g)

Rule 12A(1)(d) and (2)(b)

Rule 12B(2)(f)

Rule 12C(2)(g)

Form 2 of Second Schedule, Part G

Form 4 of Second Schedule, Part F

Form 4B of Second Schedule, Part F; and

(d)

by deleting the words “High Court” in the following provision and substituting the words “General Division of the High Court”:

Paragraph 2 of the First Schedule (paragraph (a) of the definition of “Court”).
