(CHAPTER 37)

Charities (Exempt Charities) (Amendment No. 2)
Order 2017

In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph (b) of the Schedule to the Charities Act, the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) This Order is the Charities (Exempt Charities) (Amendment No. 2) Order 2017 and, except for paragraphs 2(b) and (g), 4(b) and (d), 5 and 6, comes into operation on 11 January 2017.

(2) Paragraphs 2(b) and 4(b) are deemed to have come into operation on 15 December 1998.

(3) Paragraphs 2(g) and 4(d) are deemed to have come into operation on 1 January 2001.

(4) Paragraphs 5 and 6 are deemed to have come into operation on 1 January 2005.

Amendment of Part I of Schedule

2. Part I of the Schedule to the Charities (Exempt Charities) Order (O 2) (called in this Order the principal Order) is amended —

(a)

by deleting item (2) and substituting the following item:

“(2) Anglo-Chinese School (Junior).”;

(b)

by inserting, immediately after item (2), the following item:

“(2A) Anglo-Chinese School (Primary).”;

(c)

by deleting items (3) to (10) and substituting the following items:

“(3) Canossa Convent Primary School.

(4) CHIJ (Katong) Primary.

(5) CHIJ (Kellock).

(6) CHIJ Our Lady of Good Counsel.

(7) CHIJ Our Lady of the Nativity.

(8) CHIJ Our Lady Queen of Peace.

(9) CHIJ Primary (Toa Payoh).

(10) Chongfu School.”;

(d)

by deleting items (12) and (13) and substituting the following items:

“(12) Fairfield Methodist School (Primary).

(13) Geylang Methodist School (Primary).”;

(e)

by inserting, immediately after item (19), the following item:

“(19A) Marymount Convent School.”;

(f)

by deleting item (21) and substituting the following item:

“(21) Methodist Girls’ School (Primary).”;

(g)

by inserting, immediately after item (22), the following item:

“(22A) Nan Chiau Primary School.”;

(h)

by deleting item (26) and substituting the following item:

“(26) Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (Primary).”;

(i)

by deleting item (28) and substituting the following item:

“(28) Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School.”;

(j)

by deleting item (34) and substituting the following item:

“(34) St. Anthony’s Canossian Primary School.”;

(k)

by inserting, immediately after item (36), the following item:

“(36A) St. Joseph’s Institution Junior.”; and

(l)

by deleting item (38).

Amendment of Part II of Schedule

3. Part II of the Schedule to the principal Order is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after item (1), the following item:

“(1A) Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road).”;

(b)

by deleting items (3) and (4) and substituting the following items:

“(3) CHIJ Katong Convent.

(4) CHIJ Secondary (Toa Payoh).”;

(c)

by deleting items (9) to (12) and substituting the following items:

“(9) Chung Cheng High School (Yishun).

(10) Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary).

(11) Geylang Methodist School (Secondary).

(12) Hai Sing Catholic School.”;

(d)

by inserting, immediately after item (16), the following item:

“(16A) Nan Chiau High School.”;

(e)

by deleting item (18) and substituting the following item:

“(18) Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (Secondary).”;

(f)

by deleting item (21) and substituting the following item:

“(21) St. Anthony’s Canossian Secondary School.”; and

(g)

by deleting items (26), (27) and (28).

Amendment of Part III of Schedule

4. Part III of the Schedule to the principal Order is amended —

(a)

by deleting the Part heading and substituting the following Part heading:

“GOVERNMENT-AIDED MIXED LEVEL
(PRIMARY/SECONDARY) SCHOOLS”;

(b)

by deleting item (1);

(c)

by deleting item (5); and

(d)

by deleting item (6).

Amendment of Part IV of Schedule

5. Part IV of the Schedule to the principal Order is amended by deleting item (3).

Amendment of Part V of Schedule

6. Part V of the Schedule to the principal Order is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after item (1), the following item:

“(1A) Hwa Chong Institution.”; and

(b)

by deleting item (8).
