Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics (Amendment) Regulations 1998

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 17 of the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics (Amendment) Regulations 1998 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1998.

Amendment of regulation 5

2. Regulation 5 of the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Regulations (Rg 1) is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(1) The fee payable for any licence or renewal thereof shall be as follows:

(a)	Private Hospitals, other than a maternity home and a nursing home —

(i)	1,000 beds and above

$7,500

(ii)	100 to 999 beds

$5,500

(iii)

less than 100 beds

$3,000

(b)	Maternity Home

$1,000

(c)	Nursing Home

$1,000

(d)	Medical and Dental Clinic —

(i)

used by —

(A)	1 to 5 doctors or dentists

$600

(B)	more than 5 doctors or dentists

$1,000

(ii)	which provides any special care service as specified in the Third Schedule (in addition to the appropriate fee payable under item (i))

$1,000

(e)	Clinical Laboratory

$1,500

(f)	Any private hospital or medical clinic which is a charity under the Charities Act (Cap. 37)
