(Chapter 3)

Muslim Marriage and Divorce (Amendment) Rules 2001

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 145 of the Administration of Muslim Law Act, the President of Singapore hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Muslim Marriage and Divorce (Amendment) Rules 2001 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2001.

Amendment of Third Schedule

2. Part I of the Third Schedule to the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Rules (R 1, 2001 Ed.) is amended —

(a)

by deleting item 1 and substituting the following item:

“

1. Application for registration of Marriage where at least one party is a citizen of Singapore

”;

(b)

by deleting item 3 and substituting the following item:

“

3. Application for registration of Marriage where both parties are not citizens of Singapore

$80

”;

(c)

by deleting “$39” in item 4 and substituting “$42”;

(d)

by deleting “$47” in item 6 and substituting “$49”;

(e)

by deleting “$19” in item 8 (a) and substituting “$22”;

(f)

by deleting “$12” in items 11, 12, 13, 15 and 18 and substituting in each case “$14”;

(g)

by deleting “$75” in item 16 and substituting “$80”;

(h)

by deleting “$100” in item 21 and substituting “$115”;

(i)

by deleting “$50” in item 24 and substituting “$53”;

(j)

by deleting “$30” in item 25 and substituting “$43”;

(k)

by deleting “$150” in item 26 and substituting “$165”; and

(l)

by deleting “$10” in item 27 and substituting “$11”.

Made this 21st day of March 2001.
