Central Provident Fund (Medishield Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2007

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 57 of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2007 and shall come into operation on 1st May 2007.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. Regulation 2 of the Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme) Regulations (G.N. No. S 427/2005) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the definition of “gamma knife treatment” and substituting the following definition:

“ “gamma knife treatment” means the treatment of neurosurgical and neurological disorders by way of radiotherapeutic procedure as specified in the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations (Rg 17) in force immediately before 1st May 2007;”;

(b)

by deleting paragraph (f) of the definition of “insured out-patient medical treatment” and substituting the following paragraph:

“(f)	radiosurgery treatment;”;

(c)

by deleting the words “gamma knife treatment” in the definition of “medical treatment” and substituting the words “radiosurgery treatment”; and

(d)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “premium”, the following definition:

“ “radiosurgery treatment” has the same meaning as in the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations (Rg 17) and shall not include any excluded medical treatment;”.

Amendment of regulation 10

3. Regulation 10 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “gamma knife treatment” in paragraphs (8), (10) and (11) and substituting in each case the words “radiosurgery treatment”.

Amendment of Third Schedule

4. Part IV of the Third Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “Gamma knife treatment” in item 10 and substituting the words “Radiosurgery treatment”.

Amendment of Fourth Schedule

5. Part II of the Fourth Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “gamma knife treatment” in item (1) (b) and substituting the words “radiosurgery treatment”.
