Factories Act
(Chapter 104)
Factories (Exemption) Order 2001
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Factories Act, the President hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order may be cited as the Factories (Exemption) Order 2001 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 8th April 2001 and shall remain in operation until 7th April 2004, both dates inclusive.
Singapore Armed Forces exempted
2.  Subject to paragraph 3, factories belonging to or in the occupation of the Singapore Armed Forces and premises in which building operations and works of engineering construction are carried out by the Singapore Armed Forces are hereby exempted from the provisions of the Act.
Exemption not extended to Government contractors
3.  The exemption under paragraph 2 shall not apply to factories and premises in which building operations and works of engineering construction are carried out by contractors engaged by the Government to carry out such building operations or works of engineering construction.
