Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Amendment) Rules 2001

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 111 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Amendment) Rules 2001 and shall come into operation on 9th January 2001.

New rule 5A

2. The Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Rules (R 14) are amended by inserting, immediately after rule 5, the following rule:

“Installation of additional seats prohibited

5A. A public service vehicle shall not, without the prior written approval of the Registrar, be fitted with or contain a number of seats in excess of the maximum adult seating capacity specified in the licence issued for that vehicle.”.
