Stamp Duties Act (Amendment of First Schedule) Notification 1998

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 78 of the Stamp Duties Act, the Minister for Finance hereby makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1. This Notification may be cited as the Stamp Duties Act (Amendment of First Schedule) Notification 1998 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 27th August 1997.

Amendment of First Schedule

2. Article 9 of the First Schedule to the Stamp Duties Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “non-Singapore dollar” in the second line of the Exemption and substituting the word “foreign”; and

(b)

by deleting the definition of “non-Singapore dollar stock or shares” and substituting the following definition:

“ “foreign stock or shares” means —

(a)	stock or shares of companies not incorporated and not resident in Singapore; and
(b)	stock or shares listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore and denominated in any foreign currency of companies incorporated in Singapore and approved by the Minister whose operations are substantially outside Singapore;”.
