(Chapter 276)

Road Traffic (Driver Improvement Points System) (Amendment) Rules 2011

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 45(2) of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Driver Improvement Points System) (Amendment) Rules 2011 and shall come into operation on 1st February 2011.

Amendment of Schedule

2. The Schedule to the Road Traffic (Driver Improvement Points System) Rules (R 25) is amended —

(a)

by deleting item (28) and substituting the following item:

“

(28) Carrying passengers on a goods vehicle in a dangerous manner
[Rule 4, Road Traffic (Carriage of Persons in Goods Vehicles) Rules 2010
(G.N. No. S 663/2010)]

”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after item (43), the following items:

“

(44) Failing to fill up every passenger seat in driver’s cabin, or any additional cabin or enclosed space provided for the carriage of passengers or goods and which is adjacent to or is an extension of the cabin for the driver, before carrying any person on the floor of open deck goods vehicle
[Rule 3, Road Traffic (Carriage of Persons in Goods Vehicles) Rules 2010]

(45) Failing to obey 1.1 metre height restriction for persons carried on open deck goods vehicle
[Rule 5, Road Traffic (Carriage of Persons in Goods Vehicles) Rules 2010]

(46) Carrying passengers when the clear floor space of the open deck of goods vehicle available for each passenger is insufficient
[Rule 8(2), Road Traffic (Carriage of Persons in Goods Vehicles) Rules 2010]
