Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test)
(Amendment) Rules 2017

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 90 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test) (Amendment) Rules 2017 and come into operation on 1 July 2017.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test) Rules (R 21) (called in these Rules the principal Rules) is amended by inserting, immediately after the definition of “authorisation”, the following definition:

“ “chauffeured private hire car” means a motor car that is the subject of a chauffeured private hire car licence within the meaning of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Rules (R 14);”.

Amendment of First Schedule

3. The First Schedule to the principal Rules is amended by deleting the full‑stop at the end of paragraph (t) and substituting a semi‑colon, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:

“(u)	the requirements of rules 38A, 38B, 38C and 38D of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Rules (R 14), where applicable.”.

Amendment of Third Schedule

4. The Third Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting the definition of “marking requirements” in paragraph 1 and substituting the following definition:

“ “marking requirements” means the prescribed statutory requirements specified in paragraphs (p), (q), (r) and (u) of the First Schedule;”;

(b)

by deleting the word “and” at the end of paragraph 33(f); and

(c)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub‑paragraph (g) of paragraph 33 and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub‑paragraph:

“(h)	where the vehicle is a chauffeured private hire car, each decalcomania containing a chauffeured private hire car marking required to be affixed on the vehicle is not altered, defaced, covered or obscured or is not discoloured by fading or otherwise.”.
