Singapore Armed Forces (Detention and Imprisonment) (Amendment) Regulations 2008

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 205 of the Singapore Armed Forces Act, the Armed Forces Council hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Singapore Armed Forces (Detention and Imprisonment) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st September 2006.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. Regulation 2 of the Singapore Armed Forces (Detention and Imprisonment) Regulations (Rg 3) is amended by deleting the definition of “Commanding Officer, Provost” and substituting the following definition:

“ “Commander, SAF MP Command” means the Commander of the Singapore Armed Forces Military Police Command at the relevant time;”.

Miscellaneous amendments

3. The Singapore Armed Forces (Detention and Imprisonment) Regulations are amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “Commanding Officer, Provost” wherever they appear in the following regulations and substituting in each case the words “Commander, SAF MP Command”:

Regulations 3(1) and (2) and the regulation heading, 5(2), 9, 23(1), 36(9), 38(2) and (3), 47(1) and 49(2), (4), (5)(a) and (b), (6) and (8)(b);

(b)

by deleting the words “Commanding Officer, Provost’s authority” in regulation 49(5)(b) and substituting the words “Commander, SAF MP Command’s authority”;

(c)

by deleting the words “Commanding Officer, Provost” in Form 7 in the Schedule and substituting the words “Commander, SAF MP Command”;

(d)

by deleting the words “COMMANDING OFFICER, PROVOST” in Form 8 in the Schedule and substituting the words “COMMANDER, SAF MP COMMAND”; and

(e)

by deleting the words “Commanding Officer/Provost” in Form 8 in the Schedule and substituting the words “Commander, SAF MP Command”.
