Public Order (Exempt Assemblies and
Processions) (Amendment No. 2) Order 2016
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 46 of the Public Order Act, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order is the Public Order (Exempt Assemblies and Processions) (Amendment No. 2) Order 2016 and comes into operation on 29 July 2016.
Amendment of First Schedule
2.  Item 7 of the First Schedule to the Public Order (Exempt Assemblies and Processions) Order 2009 (G.N. No. S 489/2009) is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “in conjunction with” and substituting the words “solely for the purpose of”;
(b)by deleting the words “involve any” in sub‑paragraph (f) and substituting the words “only involve”;
(c)by inserting, immediately after sub‑paragraph (viii) of sub‑paragraph (f), the following sub‑paragraph:
(ix)an activity organised by or with the authority of the organiser solely for the purpose of celebrating the Seventh Month Festival of the Chinese Lunar calendar;”;
(d)by deleting the words “performer at the assembly” in sub‑paragraph (i) and substituting the words “person on the stage or any other performance area”; and
(e)by deleting sub‑paragraph (j) and substituting the following sub‑paragraph:
(j)during which the organiser of the assembly takes immediate steps to have any person who makes a vulgar or obscene gesture or remark, or sings a vulgar or obscene song, escorted off the stage or out of any other performance area;”.
