(Chapter 137)

Infectious Diseases (Diphtheria and Measles Vaccination) (Amendment) Regulations 2001

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 48, 50 and 72(1)(g) of the Infectious Diseases Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Infectious Diseases (Diphtheria and Measles Vaccination) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into operation on 1st September 2001.

Amendment of regulation 18

2. Regulation 18 of the Infectious Diseases (Diphtheria and Measles Vaccination) Regulations (Rg 3) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting the words “Director in such form as the Director may approve” in the last line and substituting the words “Chief Executive of the Health Promotion Board in such form as the Director may approve”.

Amendment of regulation 19

3. Regulation 19 (4) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “Director in such form as the Director may approve” and substituting the words “Chief Executive of the Health Promotion Board in such form as the Director may approve”.

Amendment of regulation 20

4. Regulation 20 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(2) Any medical practitioner who issues a certificate of measles infection under paragraph (1) shall, within 3 days thereof, notify the Commissioner of Public Health in the form set out in the First Schedule to the Infectious Diseases (Notification of Infectious Diseases) Regulations 2001 (G.N. No. S 394/2001).”.

Amendment of Fourth Schedule

5. The Fourth Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (1) under “Notes:” and substituting the following paragraph:

“1. The original of this certificate must be given to the parent or guardian of the child and a Notification of Unfitness for Vaccination against Diphtheria or Measles in the approved form available from the Health Promotion Board should be transmitted by the medical practitioner within 7 days to the Chief Executive, Health Promotion Board, c/o Central Immunisation Registry, 3 Second Hospital Avenue, #06-00, Singapore 168937.”.

Amendment of Fifth Schedule

6. The Fifth Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph 2 under “NOTICE” and substituting the following paragraph:

“2. Notification of the measles infection in the form set out in the First Schedule to the Infectious Diseases (Notification of Infectious Diseases) Regulations 2001 shall also be transmitted by the medical practitioner within 3 days to the Commissioner of Public Health, Ministry of the Environment, 40 Scotts Road, Singapore 228231.”.
