Employment of Foreign Workers Act
(Chapter 91A)
Work Permit (Exemption) Notification 1997
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Employment of Foreign Workers Act, the Minister for Labour hereby makes the following Notification:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Notification may be cited as the Work Permit (Exemption) Notification 1997 and shall come into operation on 6th January 1997.
Exemption
2.—(1)  Any person who employs or wishes to employ a foreign worker who is a full-time matriculated or registered student of —
(a)the National University of Singapore;
(b)the Nanyang Technological University;
(c)the Singapore Polytechnic;
(d)the Ngee Ann Polytechnic;
(e)the Temasek Polytechnic; or
(f)the Nanyang Polytechnic,
is hereby exempted from applying for a work permit under section 7 of the Act in respect of that foreign worker.
(2)  This paragraph shall not apply in respect of a foreign worker who is required to work for more than 16 hours a week.
