MediShield Life Scheme
(Amendment No. 3) Regulations 2023

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 34 of the MediShield Life Scheme Act 2015, the Minister for Health makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations are the MediShield Life Scheme (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 2023 and, except for regulation 3, come into operation on 26 June 2023.

(2) Regulation 3 is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. In the MediShield Life Scheme Regulations 2015 (G.N. No. S 622/2015), in regulation 2(1) —

(a)

replace the definition of “approved day surgery centre” with —

“ “approved day surgery centre” —

(a)	means an approved medical institution that provides day surgical treatment; but
(b)	does not include an approved medical institution which is a private hospital or restructured hospital;”; and

(b)

delete the definition of “medical clinic”.

Miscellaneous amendments

3. In the MediShield Life Scheme Regulations 2015 —

(a)	in regulation 2(1), in the definition of “insurer”, replace “(Cap. 142)” with “1966”;
(b)	in regulation 2(1), in the definition of “living donor organ transplant”, replace “(Cap. 131A)” with “1987”;
(c)	in regulation 2(1), in the definition of “medical clinic”, replace “(Cap. 248)” with “1980”;
(d)	in regulation 2(1), in the definition of “medical practitioner”, replace “(Cap. 174)” with “1997”;
(e)	in regulation 2(1), in the definition of “medical practitioner”, replace “(Cap. 76)” with “1999”;
(f)	in regulation 2(1), in the definition of “specified organ”, after “Human Organ Transplant Act”, insert “1987”;
(g)	in regulation 10(7)(b)(ii), replace “(Cap. 36, Rg 17)” with “(Rg 17)”;
(h)	in regulation 10(7)(b)(iii), replace “(Cap. 36)” with “1953”;
(i)	in the Third Schedule, in paragraph 10(da), replace “(Cap. 185)” with “1973”; and
(j)	in the Tenth Schedule, in paragraph 4(6)(a)(ii), replace “(Cap. 177A)” with “2008”.
