Restriction of Speed (Roads)
(Amendment No. 2) Notification 2000
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 63(2) of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Notification:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Notification may be cited as the Restriction of Speed (Roads) (Amendment No. 2) Notification 2000 and shall come into operation on 30th September 2000.
Amendment of paragraph 2
2.  Paragraph 2 of the Restriction of Speed (Roads) Notification (N 6) (referred to in this Notification as the principal Notification) is deleted and the following paragraphs substituted therefor:
Speed limits on roads
2.  The speed of all motor vehicles travelling along any road shall not exceed —
(a)in the case of the roads or parts thereof set out in the First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Schedules, the speed specified in those Schedules; and
(b)in any other case, 50 kilometres per hour.
Application to certain vehicles
3.  This Notification shall not apply to —
(a)any fire engine used for the purpose of extinguishing fires, of preserving life and property in case of fire or of aiding or rescuing persons in danger, or in case of an accident;
(b)any ambulance used for the purpose of aiding or rescuing persons in danger, or in case of an accident; or
(c)any motor vehicle owned by the Government and used by the Singapore Police Force or the Singapore Civil Defence Force for the purpose of executing the functions of the Singapore Police Force or the Singapore Civil Defence Force, as the case may be,
if compliance with this Notification is likely to hinder the use of the fire engine, ambulance or vehicle for the purpose for which it is being used.”.
Amendment of Third Schedule
3.  The Third Schedule to the principal Notification is amended by deleting the items relating to “Ayer Rajah Expressway” and “Central Expressway”.
Deletion and substitution of Fourth Schedule
4.  The Fourth Schedule to the principal Notification is deleted and the following Schedule substituted therefor:
FOURTH SCHEDULE
80 Kilometres Per Hour
Ayer Rajah Expressway — that part of Ayer Rajah Expressway —
(a)between its 26.5 kilometre post and lamp post No. 142 F, in the direction towards City;
(b)between lamp post No. 143 F and its 26.5 kilometre post, in the direction towards Tuas Checkpoint;
(c)between lamp post No. 200 and lamp post No. 16 F, in the direction towards City; and
(d)between lamp post No. 17 F and lamp post No. 201, in the direction towards Tuas Checkpoint.
Central Expressway — that part of Central Expressway tunnel —
(a)between lamp post No. 551 and lamp post No. 506, in the direction towards Seletar Expressway; and
(b)between lamp post No. 503 F and lamp post No. 551, in the direction towards Ayer Rajah Expressway.
East Coast Parkway — that part of East Coast Parkway between Shenton Way and its 14.5 kilometre post.
Pan Island Expressway — that part of Pan Island Expressway between its interchange at East Coast Parkway and its interchange with Ayer Rajah Expressway.”.
Amendment of Fifth Schedule
5.  The Fifth Schedule to the principal Notification is amended by inserting, immediately above the item relating to “East Coast Parkway”, the following items:
Ayer Rajah Expressway — that part of Ayer Rajah Expressway —
(a)between lamp post No. 142 F and lamp post No. 200, in the direction towards City; and
(b)between lamp post No. 201 and lamp post No. 143 F, in the direction towards Tuas.
Bukit Timah Expressway — that part of Bukit Timah Expressway —
(a)between lamp post No. 496 and lamp post No. 2 L3, in the direction towards Pan Island Expressway; and
(b)between lamp post No. 1171 S 25 and lamp post No. 495, in the direction towards Woodlands Checkpoint.
Central Expressway — that part of Central Expressway —
(a)between lamp post No. 506 and lamp post No. 17 F, in the direction towards Seletar Expressway; and
(b)between lamp post No. 16 F and lamp post No. 503 F, in the direction towards Ayer Rajah Expressway.”.
