Notaries Public (Amendment) Rules 2008

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 of the Notaries Public Act, the Chief Justice, after consultation with the Senate of the Singapore Academy of Law, hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Notaries Public (Amendment) Rules 2008 and shall come into operation on 15th September 2008.

Amendment of rule 3

2. Rule 3 of the Notaries Public Rules (R 1) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the words “and authentication of signatures”.

Deletion of rule 8

3. Rule 8 of the principal Rules is deleted.

Amendment of First Schedule

4. Part I of the First Schedule to the principal Rules is amended by deleting paragraph 2.

Deletion of Second Schedule

5. The Second Schedule to the principal Rules is deleted.
