Immigration (Amendment) Regulations 2008
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 55(1) of the Immigration Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Immigration (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and shall come into operation on 1st February 2008.
Amendment of regulation 12
2.  Regulation 12(1) of the Immigration Regulations (Rg 1) is amended by inserting, immediately after the word “employment” in sub-paragraph (c), the words “or being employed”.
Amendment of Third Schedule
3.  The Third Schedule to the Immigration Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting item 7;
(b)by deleting the words “Social visit pass” in the first column of item 8 and substituting the words “Visit pass”; and
(c)by deleting the words “social visit pass” in paragraphs (a) and (b) of item 8 and substituting in each case the words “visit pass”.
Transitional and saving provisions
4.—(1)  An application for the issue of a professional visit pass received by the Controller before 1st February 2008 may be dealt with by the Controller as if these Regulations had not been made.
(2)  Any professional visit pass issued by the Controller and in force immediately before 1st February 2008 shall be valid and continue in force as if these Regulations had not been made, until such time as it is cancelled or otherwise expires.
