Government Hospitals (Fees)
(Amendment) Rules 1998
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4(1) of the Government Hospitals Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Government Hospitals (Fees) (Amendment) Rules 1998 and shall come into operation on 2nd January 1998.
Deletion and substitution of rule 3
2.  Rule 3 of the Government Hospitals (Fees) Rules (R 1) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is deleted and the following rule substituted therefor:
Fees
3.—(1)  Subject to these Rules, the fees for the matters set out in the first column of the Schedule shall be as specified in the second column thereof.
(2)  The fees under sub-paragraph (1) shall apply to all residents.
(3)  Class B1, B2 and C patients shall pay the fees chargeable under items 9 and 10 of the Schedule at 85%, 34% and 19%, respectively, of the class A fees subject to the minimum and maximum fees payable by class B2 and C patients for the items specified hereunder:

(4)  A person who is treated as an outpatient shall —
(a)in respect of a private consultation case, pay the fees chargeable under these Rules at class A rates; and
(b)in respect of a subsidised case, pay the fees chargeable at class B2 rates, except for those items the subsidised rates of which are set out in the second column of the Schedule.”.
Amendment of rule 4
3.  Rule 4 of the principal Rules is amended by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2), the following paragraph:
(3)  A non-resident who is treated as an outpatient in a specialist outpatient clinic shall pay the fees as specified in the second column of the Schedule at private consultation rates in addition to a surcharge of 30% of the fees.”.
Amendment of rule 7
4.  Rule 7 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting paragraph (2).
Amendment of Schedule
5.  The Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting item 3 and substituting the following item:

“(c)Primary Health Clinics
$8 per consultation except that the fee payable shall be $4 per consultation during a working day for any resident 18 years of age and below who is unemployed, any resident who is a school or junior college student or any resident 65 years of age and above.
 
 
$4 per subsequent attendance for dressings, injections or other minor procedures as prescribed without seeing the doctor except that the fee payable shall be $2 per subsequent attendance for any resident 18 years of age and below who is unemployed, any resident who is a school or junior college student or any resident 65 years of age and above.
