Rules of Court (Amendment) Rules 2008
In exercise of the powers conferred on us by section 80 of the Supreme Court of Judicature Act and all other powers enabling us under any written law, we, the Rules Committee, hereby make the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  These Rules may be cited as the Rules of Court (Amendment) Rules 2008 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2009.
(2)  Rules 3 and 4 shall apply only to notices of appointment for assessment of damages or notices of appointment for the taking of accounts or making of inquiries filed on or after 1st January 2009.
Amendment of Order 7
2.  Order 7, Rule 3(2) of the Rules of Court (R 5) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the words “paragraph (1)(a) and (b)” and substituting the words “paragraph (1)(a), (b) and (g)”.
Amendment of Order 90A
3.  Order 90A, Rule 1 of the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:
(1)  The following fees shall be payable for any cause or matter for hearing:
(a)before a District Judge or a Magistrate in open Court, including applications (interlocutory or otherwise) fixed for hearing in open Court on special hearing dates;
(b)before a Judge in the High Court in open Court and applications (interlocutory or otherwise) fixed for hearing in chambers or in open Court on special hearing dates; and
(c)before the Registrar in the High Court for the assessment of damages, the taking of accounts and the making of inquiries:

(b)by deleting the word “The” in paragraph (2) and substituting the words “Where paragraph (1)(a) or (b) applies, the”; and
(c)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2), the following paragraph:
(2A)  Where paragraph (1)(c) applies, the party entitled to the benefit of the judgment or the party who has obtained an order for the taking of accounts or making of inquiries, as the case may be, must pay the fees and file the Request4, in Form 224A, at the time of filing the notice of appointment for the assessment of damages or notice of appointment for the taking of accounts or the making of inquiries.”.
Amendment of Appendix A
4.  Appendix A of the principal Rules is amended by inserting, immediately after Form 224, the following Form:
