Rapid Transit Systems (Amendment) Regulations 2010

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 45 of the Rapid Transit Systems Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Rapid Transit Systems (Amendment) Regulations 2010 and shall, with the exception of regulation 6(c), come into operation on 13th September 2010.

(2) Regulation 6(c) shall be deemed to have come into operation on 31st July 2004.

Amendment of regulation 8

2. Regulation 8 of the Rapid Transit Systems Regulations (Rg 1) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —

(a)

by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(1) Subject to paragraph (3), no person shall bring any animal into or upon, or allow any animal under his control to remain in or on, any part of the railway premises.”; and

(b)

by deleting paragraph (3) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(3) The prohibition in paragraph (1) shall not apply to —

(a)	a guide dog accompanying a person with a sight or hearing impairment; or
(b)	a dog under the effective control of any police officer on official duty or any member of an auxiliary police force in uniform or any security officer (within the meaning of the Private Security Industry Act (Cap. 250A)) engaged by the Authority or its licensee to provide security at the railway premises.”.

Deletion of regulation 11A

3. Regulation 11A of the principal Regulations is deleted.

Amendment of regulation 23

4. Regulation 23 of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)

by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(1) No person shall —

(a)	without reasonable excuse, sit on any step or pallet of any escalator or travelator in the railway premises; or
(b)	sit or ride on any handrail of any escalator or travelator in the railway premises.”;

(b)

by deleting the word “travellator” wherever it appears in paragraphs (2) and (3) and in the regulation heading and substituting in each case the word “travelator”; and

(c)

by deleting the word “belt” in paragraph (2) and substituting the word “pallet”.

Amendment of regulation 42

5. Regulation 42 of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “fare or”; and
(b)	by deleting the words “fares or” in the regulation heading.

Amendment of regulation 53

6. Regulation 53 of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)	by deleting “11A,”;
(b)	by deleting the words “by the Authority”; and
(c)	by deleting the words “section 41” and substituting the words “section 44”.

Amendment of Schedule

7. The Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)	by deleting the items relating to regulation 11A(1) and (2);
(b)	by deleting the word “travellator” in the item relating to regulation 23 and substituting the word “travelator”; and
(c)	by deleting the words “fares, etc.” in the item relating to regulation 42 and substituting the words “administrative charge”. [G.N. Nos. S 460/99; S 628/2003; S 312/2004; S 344/2008; S 571/2009]
