Road Traffic (Prescribed Offences and Prescribed Notices) (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2006

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 132, 134 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Prescribed Offences and Prescribed Notices) (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2006 and shall come into operation on 6th September 2006.

Deletion and substitution of rule 2

2. Rule 2 of the Road Traffic (Prescribed Offences and Prescribed Notices) Rules (R 28) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is deleted and the following rule substituted therefor:

“Prescribed offences and penalties

2. The offences to which section 132 of the Act applies are set out in the first column of the First Schedule, and the penalty prescribed for each such offence shall be the appropriate penalty specified in the second column thereof.”.

Deletion and substitution of First Schedule

3. The First Schedule to the principal Rules is deleted and the following Schedule substituted therefor:

24. Climbing over a railing or other structure in contravention of rule 3(4) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules

25. Crossing in a direction which interferes with the lawful movement of traffic at an intersection of roads in contravention of rule 8 of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules

26. Remaining on a pedestrian crossing longer than is necessary in contravention of rule 12 of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules

27. Failing to yield the right of way to vehicles in contravention of rule 13(1) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules

28. Standing, sitting, squatting, loitering, walking or running on the road in such a manner or in such a position as to interfere with the lawful movement of traffic in contravention of rule 13(2) of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules

Amendment of Second Schedule

4. The Second Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting Form A; and

(b)

by deleting Forms C, D, E, F, H, I and K and substituting the following Forms, respectively:
