Customs (Miscellaneous Fees) Notification 1996
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 98 of the Customs Act, the Director-General of Customs and Excise, with the approval of the Minister for Finance, hereby makes the following Notification:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Notification may be cited as the Customs (Miscellaneous Fees) Notification 1996 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1997.
Fees payable to Director-General
2.  There shall be payable to the Director-General in respect of the matters set out in the first column of the Schedule the fees set out opposite thereto in the second column thereof.
Exemption for diplomatic mission
3.  An accredited diplomatic mission shall be exempted from paying any of the fees specified in this Notification.
Exemption for Government and for exporter of approved products
4.  The Director-General may, in his discretion, exempt a ministry or a department of the Government or an organ of state or any exporter of an approved product within the meaning of the Economic Expansion Incentives (Relief from Income Tax) Act [Cap. 86] from paying any of the fees specified in this Notification.
Waiver of fees
5.  The Director-General may, in his discretion —
(a)waive the fee payable in any particular case in connection with the survey of goods under item (6)(a) of the Schedule; and
(b)waive any fee payable in respect of item (11) of the Schedule where the information sought by the enquirer is not readily available from any official publication of the Customs and Excise Department.
Revocation
6.  The Customs (Miscellaneous Fees) Notification [N 4] is cancelled.
