Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) (Amendment) Order 1998
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 54 of the Medicines Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) (Amendment) Order 1998 and shall, with the exception of paragraph 3(a), (b) and (c), be deemed to have come into operation on 24th January 1998.
(2)  Paragraph 3(a) and (b) shall come into operation on 1st January 1999.
(3)  Paragraph 3(c) shall come into operation on 1st January 2000.
Amendment of paragraph 3
2.  Paragraph 3 of the Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) Order (O 16) is amended by re-lettering sub-paragraph (b) where it secondly appears as sub-paragraph (c).
Amendment of First Schedule
3.  The First Schedule to the Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) Order is amended —
(a)by numbering the paragraph in Part I as paragraph 1 of that Part, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraphs:
2.  Cosmetic products for application on the lips, including lipsticks, lip colours and lip creams.
3.  Oral or dental hygiene products, including mouth refreshers and dentifrices.”; and
(b)by deleting paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part  II.
