(Chapter 87A)
Education Endowment and Savings Schemes (Post-secondary Education Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2008
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 24 of the Education Endowment and Savings Schemes Act, the Minister for Education hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Education Endowment and Savings Schemes (Post-Secondary Education Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and shall come into operation on 31st October 2008.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  Regulation 2 of the Education Endowment and Savings Schemes (Post-Secondary Education Scheme) Regulations 2007 (G.N. No. S 752/2007) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately before the definition of “Children Development Account” in paragraph (1), the following definition:
“ “birth order”, in relation to a person, means the status of the person as the first, second, third, fourth, fifth or subsequent child of his mother or adoptive parent;”; and
(b)by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(2)  In these Regulations, the birth order of any person to whom regulation 4B of the Children Development Co-Savings Regulations applies shall be determined or re-determined in accordance with that regulation.”.
Amendment of regulation 5
3.  Regulation 5 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “status as a second, third or fourth child and the period during which the member” wherever they appear in paragraphs (1)(a) and (b)(i) and (2) and substituting in each case the words “birth order and the time he”.
Deletion and substitution of First and Second Schedules
4.  The First and Second Schedules to the principal Regulations are deleted and the following Schedules substituted therefor:
