Singapore Citizenship (Amendment) Rules 2008
In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 140 and section 4 of the Third Schedule to the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Singapore Citizenship (Amendment) Rules 2008 and shall come into operation on 10th November 2008.
Amendment of rule 4
2.  Rule 4 of the Singapore Citizenship Rules (R 1) is amended by deleting the words “in such form as the Registrar may determine and submitted to the Registrar or, if the applicant is residing outside Singapore, to the nearest diplomatic or consular mission of Singapore” in the 16th to last lines and substituting the words “to the Registrar in such form and manner as the Registrar may approve, which may include the use of such electronic application service on what is commonly known as the Internet as the Registrar may provide for this purpose”.
