Legal Profession (Practising Certificate) (Amendment) Rules 2006
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 25(7) and (8) of the Legal Profession Act, the Council of the Law Society of Singapore, with the approval of the Chief Justice, hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Legal Profession (Practising Certificate) (Amendment) Rules 2006 and shall come into operation on 1st November 2006.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  Rule 2 of the Legal Profession (Practising Certificate) Rules (R 6) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended —
(a)by deleting the definition of “electronic filing”; and
(b)by deleting the full-stop at the end of the definition of “practice year” and substituting a semi-colon, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following definition:
“ “practising certificate electronic filing system” means the application system designated by the Registrar for the filing of any application for a practising certificate.”.
Deletion and substitution of rule 4
3.  Rule 4 of the principal Rules is deleted and the following rule substituted therefor:
Application for practising certificate
4.  An application for a practising certificate shall be made —
(a)in such form as the Registrar may require; and
(b)using the practising certificate electronic filing system in accordance with any practice direction for the time being issued by the Registrar.”.
Deletion of rule 5
4.  Rule 5 of the principal Rules is deleted.
