Employment of Foreign Workers Act
(Chapter 91A)
Employment of Foreign Workers (Levy) (Amendment No. 2) Order 2001
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 11(1) of the Employment of Foreign Workers Act, the Minister for Manpower hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order may be cited as the Employment of Foreign Workers (Levy) (Amendment No. 2) Order 2001 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st October 2001.
Amendment of paragraph 2
2.  Paragraph 2 of the Employment of Foreign Workers (Levy) Order (O 1) (referred to in this Order as the principal Order) is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “and” at the end of sub-paragraph (b)(vi) of the definition of “skilled marine worker”; and
(b)by inserting, at the end of sub-paragraph (vii) of sub-paragraph (b) of the definition of “skilled marine worker”, the word “and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:
(viii)Setsco Services Pte Ltd;”.
Amendment of paragraph 3
3.  Paragraph 3 of the principal Order is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “or” at the end of sub-paragraph (32)(a); and
(b)by deleting the comma at the end of sub-paragraph (b) of sub-paragraph (32) and substituting the word “; or”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:
(c)in the case of a foreign worker in the manufacturing or service industry, the first day of the month following the month in which the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore or the institution which conducted the relevant test, notifies the Controller of the change in the skill level of the unskilled foreign worker,”.
Deletion and substitution of paragraph 5
4.  Paragraph 5 of the principal Order is deleted and the following paragraph substituted therefor:
Time for payment of levy
5.—(1)  The levy payable by any employer shall be paid not later than 14 days after the end of the month in respect of which the levy is payable.
(2)  The Controller may, in the case of any employer, allow the time for payment to be extended by not more than 7 days.”.
