Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 7) Rules 2007

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 7) Rules 2007 and shall come into operation on 1st December 2007.

Amendment of rule 8

2. Rule 8(22) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting sub-paragraph (c) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(c)	to a firm or a company which deals in secondhand motor vehicles and which buys the vehicle for the purpose of reselling it;”.

Amendment of rule 25

3. Rule 25 (4) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting sub-paragraph (a) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(a)	the owner of a registered vehicle sells the vehicle to a firm or a company which deals in secondhand motor vehicles; and”.

Amendment of rule 27

4. Rule 27 (2) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting sub-paragraph (b) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(b)	a firm or a company which deals in secondhand motor vehicles and has bought the motor car for the purpose of resale; and”.
