Singapore Armed Forces (Leave) (Amendment) Regulations 2008

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 205 of the Singapore Armed Forces Act, the Armed Forces Council hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Singapore Armed Forces (Leave) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and shall be deemed to come into operation on 17th August 2008.

Amendment of regulation 8

2. Regulation 8 of the Singapore Armed Forces (Leave) Regulations (Rg 12) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “180 days” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “90 days”;

(b)

by deleting the words “her first and second confinement for” in paragraph (1);

(c)

by deleting the words “28 days” and “6 months” in paragraph (1)(b) and substituting the words “56 days” and “12 months”, respectively;

(d)

by deleting paragraphs (1A) and (1B);

(e)

by deleting the words “paragraphs (1) and (1A), a servicewoman who, on or after 1st March 2007” in paragraph (1C) and substituting the words “paragraph (1), a servicewoman who, on or after 17th August 2008”;

(f)

by deleting the words “180 days” in the 9th line of paragraph (1C) and substituting the words “90 days”;

(g)

by deleting sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (1C) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(i)	where the child is not a citizen of Singapore at the time of his birth, he becomes a citizen of Singapore before he attains 12 months of age; and”;

(h)

by deleting the words “6 months of age; and” in paragraph (1C)(ii) and substituting the words “12 months of age.”;

(i)

by deleting sub-paragraph (iii) of paragraph (1C);

(j)

by deleting the words “28 days” in paragraph (1D)(a)(ii) and (b) and substituting in each case the words “56 days”;

(k)

by deleting the words “6 months” in paragraph (1D)(a)(ii) and (b) and substituting in each case the words “12 months”;

(l)

by deleting “(1A) ,” in paragraph (1F); and

(m)

by deleting paragraph (2A).

Miscellaneous amendments

3. The Singapore Armed Forces (Leave) Regulations are amended —

(a)	by deleting “, (1A)” in regulation 2(2) of the First and Fifth Schedules; and
(b)	by deleting “, (1A)” in regulation 2(6) of the Second, Third and Fourth Schedules. [G.N. Nos. S 256/2006; S677/2007]
