Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 2008

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1)(j) of the Central Provident Fund Act, Mr Gan Kim Yong, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Manpower, after consulting with the Central Provident Fund Board, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 2008 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2009.

Amendment of regulation 19

2. Regulation 19(2) of the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations (Rg 17) is amended by inserting, immediately after the words “Notwithstanding anything in these Regulations”, the words “but subject to regulation 24”.

Amendment of regulation 24

3. Regulation 24 of the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after the words “medical treatment” in paragraph (1)(a), the words “(other than renal dialysis treatment)”;

(b)

by deleting the word “or” at the end of paragraph (1)(e);

(c)

by deleting the comma at the end of sub-paragraph (f) of paragraph (1) and substituting the word “; or”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:

“(g)	any renal dialysis treatment received on or after 1st January 2009 at an approved centre or approved hospital, and the payment made on or after 1st January 2009 for any purchase of any approved consumables or any fees for outpatient training to administer dialysis,”; and

(d)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (3), the following paragraph:

“(4) In paragraph (1)(g), “approved consumables” has the same meaning as in regulation 19(5).”.
